School, Youth and University - Volunteering Opportunities
Environmental Conservation for groups
Introduction
Wild Mob is a not-for-profit, non-political organisation providing volunteers the opportunity to work on meaningful environmental projects in remote and iconic Australian destinations. We are dedicated to protecting Australia’s unique biodiversity through practical conservation and rehabilitation programs. Education and community engagement are essential in achieving long-term impacts on Australian ecosystems, and are a key focus of our organisation.
We specialise in offering tailored camps for small School groups and University students who value the importance of environmental conservation in Australia.
Our goal is to combine the much-needed manual labour with practical education on conservation, allowing students to experience various ecosystems and scientific research first hand.
We warmly welcome students with an interest in environmental management alongside students with a spirit of adventure and a love for the outdoors.
The camps can be organised both during the School term and School holidays. Our staff will take care of the project organisation, transfers, food, accommodation and a week full of conservation adventure.

Education
We are passionate about educating our volunteers and therefore these camps are an excellent opportunity for Schools to get students involved in a fun, rewarding and educational experience.
Our staff love to share their knowledge, however we understand that different groups have different curriculum requirements. We highly respect these requirements and are always willing to discuss how Wild Mob can contribute to achieving the educational objectives during the camp.
Wild Mob can prepare specialised content to coincide with curriculum needs, when requested in advance. We keep the volunteer groups small to ensure we can offer and respond to individuals with our full attention.
Often we find that Schools recommend the camps as an extra-curricular activity, generally during School holidays. Relevant volunteering activities are also considered to be a highly regarded addition to a resume.
About the projects
All projects are set within unique ecosystems at iconic Australian destinations.
Included are:
- Transport from pick-up and drop-off location
- All meals, drinks and snacks
- Accommodation
- All necessary materials, including sunscreen, mosquito repellent and outdoor gear
- All equipment required to perform conservation works
- Environmental education (specialised content on request)
A comprehensive pack list is provided prior to the camp. The list details appropriate clothing and other basic items volunteers should bring. There is usually no need to purchase any specific items in order to engage in our projects.
Additional activities
Depending on the project location, Wild Mob offers a variety of special interest exercises outside the realm of conservation work. Additional activities can include snorkelling, hiking, indigenous cultural workshops, nocturnal safaris and building camp fires.
Wild Mob believes that happy volunteers are productive volunteers. We aim for a healthy balance between education and fun to ensure a dynamic and joyful working environment, each and every day.
Dates
The camps can be organised and tailored to the group’s needs both during School terms and School holidays.
However, most projects will be available during specific months of the year due to seasonal conditions. Please refer to the ‘Wild Mob project calendar’ in this pack or check our website www.wildmob.org for seasonal availability.
Groups
We can take small School or University groups and accept students of the age 14 years and over.
All volunteers are asked to complete our medical conditions and dietary report. Prior to the camp, our project leaders will review the information and make special arrangements if required.
Staff
Our team consists of highly skilled and knowledgeable staff from various environmental management and educational backgrounds.
The team members are devoted to give students and the group a real sense of achievement for helping the local environment.
Project leaders and staff all hold ‘Blue Cards’ and first aid qualification to ensure a safe environment for young people.
Contribution
Wild Mob is a not-for-profit organisation. We ask volunteers for a contribution conducted on a cost-recovery basis for project management, transfers, food and accommodation.
We require a teacher to accompany the School camps. Wild Mob will cover this contribution, as the teacher will be jointly responsible for the care of the students.
Above all, we aim to provide students and teachers with invaluable skills, ecological awareness and a truly amazing environmental experience that will last a lifetime.Wild Mob specializes in offering tailored camps for School groups who value the importance of environmental conservation work in Australia.
